Giocoso: Bio

Giocoso

Giocoso (Gee-oh-coe-soe) has been in existence (inlcuding some hiatuses) since about 1985. It now consists of two of the earliest members plus some “new blood” on drums and woodwinds. We occasionally trade out sax for electric violin, or we can have both.

We believe jazz shouldn’t be too serious. We like to have fun with it. We also love to occasionally improvise the form of tunes as well as on solos.

Stylistically, we mix it up a bit, pulling from the genres of funk, Latin, and “not-so-smooth” contemporary jazz.

We’ve done private engagements for upscale country clubs such as Whittier’s Friendly Hills Country Club, Dove Canyon C.C. near Mission Viejo, and annual events at Yorba Linda C.C.

At the other end of the spectrum, we’ve played Border’s Books locations and the like. On some weekends,Giocoso is also found playing at The Bluebird Art House in Whittier.

Fraley, and many other singer-songwriters and bands.
